So many studios and engineers rely on multiple speaker setups; changing from colour to colour to judge their creative crafts.

We also witnessed this unrewarding minefield of choices; judging which speaker tells you which information and never being satisfied with one.

There’s so many variables at play and sometimes little time when faced with production deadlines in a booked studio; the result often being less than ideal.

  • F.A.S.T. Fourier Analog Speed Transformation

    Using frequency-dedicated speakers with small and lightweight cones brings challenges considering crossover points and radiation patterns.

    The Quasar system is actively crossed and time corrected for the behaviour of the speakers and the filtering that's used.

    On the analog side we also use passive impedance compensation circuitry to correct for electro magnetic reactance in the drive chain.

    The loading of a speaker is a huge factor on the performance of a driver in an enclosure.

    Considering a diaphragms output as a sum of the signal and all reflections and resistances in a cabinet led to a new approach in driver loading.

    Through a series of resistive and absorbing materials in the enclosure the influence of the back wave is greatly minimised while at the same time the driver behaves as if it was in a much bigger box.

    We found the useable dynamic range of a well balanced; time uncluttered system to be very wide.

    The detail and perception stay consistent at every sound pressure level; which means you’re comfortable listening on one system and one volume level all day.

    SPEED! Would be describing the Quasar System in one word. In order to bring across all microtiming details in your signal you need fast and lightweight transducers for all frequencies.

    We found that with the digital possibilities of correcting the timing issues in speakers the next challenge is to balance the speed of the transducers.

    You can’t compensate for a slow driver by equalising it’s response; it starts with the driver and it’s loading.
